The inspiration for beginning this company originated from the experience and creativity of Debra Siebert in working with her four children, two of whom were diagnosed with autism-related developmental disorders at three years of age. She found the media to be a powerful tool to instruct and expose them to nourishing and developmental content by using the screen alongside age appropriate activities. Musical activities in turn aided in other areas of their development: speech building, concentration, self-expression, fine motor coordination, and reading, to name a few.

Her first boy, early on had an interest in listening to all kinds of music, as well as an interest in grasping the "mechanics" of music, particularly solfège syllables. Trying to seize upon the opportunity, Debra searched the market for early music educational materials appropriate for toddlers and preschoolers and found little to none.
Using a camcorder, Debra made an amateur home video showing finger numbers, and finger rotation on the keyboard with little songs featuring each solfège pitch, as well as number and color visuals on her piano keys drawn with permanent markers. After watching the home video, this opened a world of musical expression and enjoyment for Grant. And when his younger "typically developing" sister began enjoying and applying these simple melodies at the piano just from watching this poorly done home video with the inked-piano keys, the idea was born to make a professional video to share with other little children…at any ability level. (The permanent-marker-on-the-piano-keys have thankfully evolved to a static-cling vinyl material, perfectly appropriate for placement and removal from your keyboard.)
Indeed, it was a benefit to have this first DVD program in place for her fourth child, who had no words, or even sound imitation, at age 2. Shortly after intervening with this DVD, his first imitated articulation finally came... which was the pitched syllable from this video: "DO--." Since then, undoubtedly, music and speaking words slowly with pitch, have been the prime speech building tool in his development.
The intent was not necessarily a piano lesson starter, but to offer positive first impressions of musical learning, expose children to the fundamentals of music, and plant seeds for future instrumental playing, and ear training (which opens an understanding of what music communicates to us.) In watching the first volume DVD, we also invite you to watch the special feature "program notes" which briefly explain about the music and educational intent behind every frame.
Debra brought her music education and performance experiences to this project, and collaborated with her husband, Jim, who has a Ph.D. in instructional technologies and television broadcasting experience to begin making plans for a video and other products to aid in music education interaction for little children in the home.
